Introducing Bear Canyon in Gentian Blue — the boot that started it all, in a rich, vivid blue you cannot look away from. The foot is wrapped in genuine ostrich leg in deep blue, its bold natural scales giving a texture like nothing else, while the gentian-blue leather shaft is hand-inlaid with a leaf-and-grass motif in crisp white and dark ostrich that climbs the leg like the tall grass of an open field.
Ostrich leg is unmistakable. The raised, reptilian-like scales come from the lower leg of the bird, and because each animal yields so little, it is both rare and prized — tough, characterful and completely unlike any smooth leather. Every skin is different, so no two pairs of Bear Canyon are ever exactly alike.
Set on a classic pointed toe and a stacked western heel, with a tall, leg-lengthening shaft, Bear Canyon is pure handcrafted Western style — frontier-tough, exotic and built to last a lifetime, for anyone who values objects that are made well and only get better with age.
The original Bear Canyon was made in red and black; this is our second version, in blue — quite simply because blue is my favourite colour, and I could not resist seeing this boot brought to life in it.
The boot that started it all
Bear Canyon is the very first style I designed, more than twenty years ago, while hiking the trails around our home in Montana. It is where Rockies Rebels began. In this electric gentian blue, with its bold ostrich-leg foot and climbing grass inlay, it feels brand new and full of life — the boot that started the whole journey, reimagined in a colour that turns every head.
Why “Gentian Blue”
The blue takes its name from the gentian — the vivid, almost electric blue wildflower that grows high in the Montana mountains, along the very trails where Bear Canyon was born. It is one of the truest, brightest blues in nature, and seeing it on a hike always feels like a small gift. That is the blue we captured here: rare, alive and unmistakably of the high country.

Unlike the famous round quill bumps of the body, the leg has a bold, scaled, almost reptilian texture — the part of the bird that walked the earth, so it is naturally tough and hard-wearing. Designed in Montana and handmade in Italy, each pair features a premium leather lining and cushioned insole. Every boot is entirely handmade, with particular care taken over the sole — hand-built and hand-finished for lasting comfort and durability. We use tree resin instead of chemical glue and cork filling for support, so your feet stay dry and comfortable. Each pair is stitched and tooled by hand — frontier-tough boots that conform to the wearer over time and become more beautiful with every year.
A rare, collectible edition Just 10 pairs of this style will ever be made. We craft in deliberately small runs — each colour its own little edition — so the boots you choose stay rare and personal. They are made to be collected, never mass-produced; and as any true boot lover knows, there is no such thing as too many beautiful pairs in the closet. When this run is gone, it is gone for good!
