Grosbeak — Cardinal (Cherry Red Stingray)

The foot is wrapped in genuine stingray in a glowing cherry pink-red, its naturally pearled, beaded surface shimmering with the light, while the raspberry-red leather shaft is hand-inlaid with a cream swallow in flight among climbing flowers and vines. A bird on the wing, a scatter of blossoms, and the unmistakable sparkle of stingray: this is Western romance, head to toe.

It is joyful and a little tender all at once — that cheerful cherry stingray below, the graceful cream swallow soaring up the shaft above. Because stingray is a genuine exotic skin, the beaded surface is unique to every piece, so no two pairs are ever exactly the same.

Why “Cardinal”

We named this cherry red for the cardinal — the brightest, boldest red songbird there is. It is a colour that feels alive: warm, happy and impossible to overlook, exactly like spotting a flash of red wings against the green. Cardinal is cheerful and romantic, and on shimmering stingray it positively glows.

Fun fact: what a bird in a design means

When a designer sets a bird into a piece, it is never just decoration. Across cultures and throughout the history of fashion and folk art, birds stand for freedom, hope and the spirit taking flight — and the swallow most of all. Sailors once tattooed a swallow for every safe voyage, because the swallow always finds its way home; it has long been a symbol of loyalty, love and a safe return to the people you belong to. A bird in flight also gives a design movement and life, drawing the eye upward. So the little swallow soaring up this shaft carries a quiet wish with it: freedom, devotion, and always finding your way home.

Fun fact: stingray, the toughest leather there is

Stingray is one of the most resilient leathers on earth. Its surface is covered in tiny calcified beads — the same skin once known as shagreen, prized for centuries by Japanese samurai to wrap their sword handles because it never slipped and never wore out. It is naturally waterresistant, scratch-resistant and remarkably hard-wearing, which is why a stingray boot is truly a boot for life — it shrugs off everything and only looks better with the years.
