Some weekends the whole valley hums. This is one of them.
This Friday and Saturday — July 31 and August 1 — the WildLands Festival takes over the Big Sky Events Arena, right beneath Lone Mountain. Two nights of music under the Montana sky, in the name of something we believe in deeply: protecting the wild land that makes this place what it is.
The lineup is something else. Friday, July 31 brings Riley Green and the incomparable LeAnn Rimes to the stage. Saturday, August 1, global country superstar Carrie Underwood headlines, alongside rising star Kaitlin Butts. World-class voices, mountain air, and a crowd that loves this country as much as the artists playing it.
What moves us most, though, is how far this festival has come. What began six years ago as a homegrown idea has grown into one of Montana's most powerful music-and-conservation gatherings — bigger stages, bigger names, and a far bigger impact, raising more than $2.2 million to protect wild and scenic places. To watch it swell from a local gathering into a weekend that draws artists like Carrie Underwood is to watch a whole community's love for this land grow louder every summer. It gets stronger, and it gives back more, year after year.
